Biography

A second generation Aramcon, Tamara was born and raised in Dhahran. After completing a MBBS in Medicine and Surgery, Tamara joined Saudi Aramco Medical Organization (SAMSO) in 1994. Tamara held various leadership positions and headed up the Primary Care Redesign group and the establishment of the award-winning Primary Care patient ownership program.
In 1996, Tamara started working with medical informatics serving as the physician representative of various IT projects and enhancements. In 2007, she was from the core group that was to establish the platform for a new EHR. In 2011, Tamara obtained professional certification in Healthcare Information and Healthcare Management (CPHIMS). In 2012, she worked with data collection/ analysis/ KPI development, populating the SAMSO dashboard and Physician Profiles. In 2013, she was part of the commercial readiness team working on the formation of the medical joint venture, Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH).
In 2016 Tamara completed the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health’s Leadership Strategies for Information Technology in Healthcare program. Tamara also became a certified Project Manager Professional (PMP) that year. The fruition of extensive planning and work was realized in January 2018 when JHAH rolled out the Epic EHR across the enterprise with Tamara leading the Clinical Aspect as well as ensuring smooth transition amongst Physcians. In 2018 Tamara completed her certifications in the Epic reporting applications; Radar, Reporting Workbench and Cogito Project Manager in addition to the two Epic certifications she already obtained in 2012; Inpatient Procedure Orders and Inpatient Clinical Documentation. In 2019 Tamara worked on Establishing the Strategy and Risk Management office in JHAH, laying the necessary groundwork, governance, policies, training and framework to establish Strategy as well as an ISO 31000 Risk Management framework and Enterprise Project Management (EPMO). This enabled the organization to holistically plan, budget, execute and measure and manage performance.
Tamara currently serves on the IT Steering, Clinical Chiefs, Utilization committees. She also chairs the Data and Documentation Governance committee. Tamara served on various HIMSS task forces, such as the Usability Task Force, Project Management SIG. She is also an active member in the HIMSS Physician, Clinical & Business Intelligence and Innovation communities. In 2015, Tamara was recognized as a Senior Member of HIMSS and in 2020 she was awarded for her contributions a status of Fellow member of HIMSS (FHIMSS).
